Who are we? 

We are a small, close knit team of industry professionals with decades of experience. We have designed a retreat with you at the centre, give you an individual experience and tailored to your needs. We aren't 'just another wellness retreat'. 

Meet your hosts...

Emily

Heading up the team we have Emily, Emily will be holding some of the workshops and providing sports massages across the week.

‘Hi! I’m Emily, 32, I’m a Chartered Physiotherapist, veterinary physiotherapist, training naturopathic nutritionist and aspiring Yogi.

My journey began in physiotherapy where I developed a love for human movement and health, I have worked in both public and private sector environments. Since qualifying I’ve developed a fascination of how the mind, body and gut are all inextricably linked. I have delved into the depths of movement, fitness, longevity, nutrition, health and wellness and my journey hasn’t stopped yet! There have been many ups and downs along the way and these always help me to develop myself and deepen my understanding of specific areas. It's all part of the process. 

I truly believe that you can achieve anything that you want and in order to get the best from yourself you have to harness the power of the mind, body and soul. I’m keen to help others understand and learn some of what I have and how to do this in a completely achievable way, There is always more you can do and small changes daily lead to big changes in years to come.'

Matt 

Next up in our team is Matt, Matt has decades of fitness industry experience and has maintained an exceptional workout ethic over the years. Matt will be heading up any fitness sessions as required as our fitness coach.

Hi, I’m Matt, 52. Ex Royal Navy and Police firearms officer. Fitness and health has always been a huge part of my life, from my parents influence to joining the navy at 16 and surrounding myself with like minded individuals by running in Royal Naval field gun competition.

You name it, I’ve probably done it, from winning trophies in British Natural Bodybuilding to sprint triathlons, years in strength training and CrossFit and now adapting my training to suit what my body needs as the years go on. Having hobbies that also reflect this is huge for me, being outdoors and active on the water has also driven me to stay as physically and mentally well as possible. My journey is always changing and adapting is key to maintaining fitness, health and happiness! It’s not always about super high intensity and PB’s, sometimes a stretch and a walk it what is needed.

Cristine

The incredible human that is Cristine. Cristine can be found normally teaching at @hotpodyogataunton but we are so excited to have her working with us! Cris will be leading the yoga, meditation and breath work sessions. 

‘I’m Cristine, and from an early age, I’ve been captivated by the power of the body in motion. As a fitness and wellness enthusiast, I always sought strength and vitality, but there was a missing piece in my journey - Yoga!

Discovering the harmonious blend of physical practice, mindfulness, and the art of breath transformed my personal well-being and athletic performance. In 2018, I decided to take the plunge of becoming a yoga teacher and since then, there’s been no looking back.

What truly fuels my passion is witnessing the progress and growth of my students. Guiding and supporting individuals on their unique paths fills me with an indescribable joy. Teaching, for me, is an incredible privilege and an opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of others.

In my classes, you can expect a vibrant and invigorating experience. I aim to infuse a sense of fun and energy into our practice, while also creating a grounded and centered space. With a gentle touch of softness and encouragement, I strive to cultivate an environment where you can explore, grow, and connect with your inner self. So, whether you’re a seasoned yogi or new to the practice, I invite you to join me on this transformative journey.

‘You can actually teach an old dog new tricks!!

With nearly 40 years clinical Physiotherapy experience behind me, I am still passionate about my profession and I love the fact that I am still learning about different aspects of health and wellness. Learning different approaches to enhancing how we, as individuals, can be empowered to take responsibility for improving and maintaining our own health.

Throughout my career I have always emphasised the importance of a holistic approach, incorporating wellbeing and healthy lifestyle information into my treatment sessions. The reluctance of this approach to be fully accepted within mainstream healthcare was a significant reason to setting up my successful private practice 18 years ago.

I strongly believe that it is never too late to start making sustainable changes to yourself as an individual and have seen the effects of this first hand. I encounter the effects of stress on individuals on a daily basis – physically, mentally and emotionally all of which can have devastating effects if allowed to. Learning management strategies for self-care is a massive step towards mitigating this and achieving health, longevity and fulfilment in the most inclusive sense.

I might not be as flexible as my younger colleagues when it comes to yoga or as physically strong but I know that my mental resilience is my ultimate power. I try to embrace my own healthy lifestyle (most of the time! Balance is key!) I do enjoy the odd glass of bubbles but I also respect the importance of ‘time out’ and engaging with the natural world whenever possible. I will often be caught ‘staring into space’, my own personal form of meditation / mindfulness.

I look forward to welcoming you to the Algarve and sharing the beauty of this wonderful part of the world with you on your own journey!

What's included - Portugal April 2025.

  • 5-night luxury accommodation in a fantastic Villa in the friendly town of Galé

  • Daily Yoga sessions (beach, villa/garden) - suited to the group, learn to experience the benefits of yoga for mind body and soul. Deepen your practice if you are already familiar with our fantastic yoga teacher/ 

  • Daily Breathwork/Meditation sessions - designed to help you manage stress, manifest health, happiness and lightness. 

  • 2 x sports massages each across the week - to work on the physical restrictions, feel the benefit of deep tissue work across the week. 

  • Fitness/outdoor activities - suited to the group, aimed at invigorating and educating you into fitness in a healthful manner. 

  • Local group walks/hikes - explore all that the algarve have to offer!

  • Breakfast and lunch, Dinner - culinary delights! local chefs, BBQ's simple, nutritious food. 

  • Final group meal at a local restaurant (additional cost) - bid farewell to those you have made memories and experienced a fantastic week with.
